Geography of Global Change
Climate change and other phenomena of Global Change pose dynamic and complex challenges to society and its institutions. In dealing with the effects of Global Change, civil society, policy and decision-makers and the private sector are faced with the task of jointly developing innovative and effective solutions. The research program in the Geography of Global Change chair group examines spatially differentiated manifestations of Global Change at local and regional levels in countries of the Global North and South. In addition, the program also explores social and institutional adaptation and transformation processes from a transdisciplinary perspective. The focus of this work is practice-oriented research on local climate adaptation and resilience planning, as well as studies on socio-economically differentiated vulnerability, on urban climate justice, and on planning approaches and decision support tools.
